Algarve: modern real estate in the lap of nature

In Europe there are not many places where you can find real estate, where the original architectural solutions that are pleasant to behold, modern construction standards, high environmental performance and a picturesque location are successfully combined. One such rare example is the Portuguese Algarve region.
If you look at the map, you can see that Portugal has a unique geographical position: Europe ends on this country, due to which the entire coast of the country has spacious beaches on the Atlantic coast. The Algarve is the southernmost part of Portugal, where not only locals like to travel, but also tourists from all over the world. This region is separated from the main territory of the country by low mountains, which gives landscapes a special charm, coupled with comfortable climatic indicators. The Algarve is famous for its high level of security, generous hospitality and high family culture, therefore not only tourists flock here, but also investors who know the price of such a rare combination that is not often found in Europe.

Buy real estate in the Algarve

The picturesque city of Faro, located in the harbor in the wide lagoon, became the main center of the Algarve relatively recently, when in 1965 an international airport was built here. And today Faro confidently takes the third place with 3.9% in the national rating of the country in increasing the value of real estate, second only to Lisbon (6.5%) and Porto (4%). According to a study by Idealista, the most expensive streets for buying a home are located in Lisbon, Cascais and the Algarve. Moreover, if in the south tourists are looking for houses near the beaches of the Algarve, then in Lisbon investors are attracted by history and cosmopolitan life.

 

The Algarve is known for its year-round mild and pleasant climate, numerous golf courses (over 40) and attractive sandy beaches. The region is famous for its truly unique contrast between the clear Atlantic waters and the beautiful countryside, numerous historical sites and many species of flora and fauna, making it an ideal place for relaxation, photography, painting, nature watching, walking and other outdoor activities. These qualities, combined with safety, a hospitable family culture and endless offers for lunch and entertainment for all ages, have attracted many vacationers and investors to the region for many years.

Buy real estate in the Algarve

Couples, pensioners from European countries also prefer to relax in resorts with almost 300 sunny days and beautiful nature. Pensioners value the financial benefit, because the cost of living in Portugal is lower than in neighboring European countries, and the local climate is warmer than, for example, in Scandinavia. In addition, foreigners are attracted by the level of local security, the lack of a large number of migrants, as well as attractive conditions for doing business.

The central region of the Algarve is recognized as one of the most beautiful regions of Portugal. It has a rural European atmosphere, which is undoubtedly facilitated by protected areas with numerous hills, winding rivers, waterfalls, fruit trees, oak, olive and cork groves and whitewashed houses in charming villages with small cobbled streets. These areas also include some of the region’s best golden beaches, golf courses, marinas, coastal vibrant cities and the area known as the Golden Triangle, which includes prestigious golf resorts such as Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura.

Prices
The “Golden Triangle” is in special demand among wealthy foreigners, therefore real estate prices are appropriate here: a villa on the coast costs from 2 to 8 million euros. Residential objects, which can be attributed to the elite class, have a cost of 2500 euros per square meter, and the economy class will cost in the amount of 2000 euros per square meter. In Lagos, the cost varies from 1,000 euros to 3,000 euros per sq. M depending on the class of housing, but apartments located near beaches are sold for 200,000 euros and higher, and a house with a small plot can cost from 500,000 euros.

Also in demand are facilities in Albufeira, where apartments are sold on average for 200,000 euros, but villas located near beaches will cost at least 1.5 million euros. In Faro, apartments can cost from 150,000 euros when it comes to the secondary market. Thus, the most inexpensive option for buying can be a rural house far from the beach, which can be very spacious – with a large plot and a fruitful garden, and at the same time cost 250,000 – 300,000 euros.

Actual projects
One of the interesting projects that exist in this part of Portugal was the Ombria Resort located near one of the most vibrant coastal areas of the Algarve, known as Barrocal (i.e. between the coast and the hills).
